Tandang Sora of Baliwag
Doña Rosario Vizcarra, a prominent old lady belongs to the patriotic tile of “Tandang Sora ng Baliwag” because of her immeasurable help to the guerilla movement. Like her Katipunan counterpart, this local heroine gave food and other forms of material aid to guerrilleros who affectionately called her “Mama”.
In fact her large vintage house along M. Ponce St., right across the present Baliwag Ice Plant, was used as an underground headquarters. She mortgaged, and later sold, this property to the family of the late Engr. Vicente Cruz.

Doña Rosario died in 1957 at the age of 86. She was posthumously given a Mariano Ponce Medallion Award by the Baliwag Historical Society in a fitting ceremony on March 22, 1970.
