About Baliuag
Baliuag (also spelled as "Baliwag") is a 1st class urban municipality in the province of Bulacan, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 119,675 people in 25,050 households. Baliuag has a bustling economy, with many shopping centers. Several of the major banks have branches on the town. Agriculture remains as the mainstay of the economy.
Baliuag is also a transportation hub. Public transportation to Pampanga to the west, and Nueva Ecija to the north, is easily accessible.
Baliuag is also the home of the only self-supporting clock tower in Bulacan.
Baliuag is the place where the first elections in the Far East were held (1899).
Baliuag is famous for its Semana Santa (Holy Week) processions. Boasting more than 60 carros or carrozas (floats) with life-size Santos (statues) showcasing events from the life and passion of Christ.

Geographical Location and Land Area
The Municipality of Baliuag is located on the westernmost part of Bulacan province. It is also one of the perimeter towns of Bulacan in the provincial boundary line with Pampanga. North of the town are two (2) municipalities of Pampanga namely, San Luis and Candaba, on the northwest are the towns of San Simon and Apalit; on the south are Pulilan and Plaridel both of Bulacan; on the east are Bustos and San Rafael also of Bulacan, The town is approximately located between 14 55’ and 15 00’ North latitude 120 40’ and 121 00’ East latitude.There are three (3) major transport lines in the municipality: The Baliuag-Candaba road going to Pampanga, the Cagayan Valley road and the Dona Remedios Trinidad Highway going to Manila and Nueva Ecija.
The town is 52 kilometers north of Manila. Which takes usually one (1) hour in term of travel time.
Baliuag is boot- shaped bounded municipality with a total area of approximately 4,505 hectares consisting of 27 barangays. The five largest barangays are Calantipay with 610.6 hectares, Matangtubig with 530.4 hectares, Makinabang with 394.3 hectares, San Roque with 297.4 hectares, and Sta. Barbara with 268 hectares.
Topography
Baliuag has a fairly level land suited for agricultural crop production and urban development. Other topographic variations are the bodies of water, which means that the soil is fertile aside from adding to the natural beauty of the territory. One of the largest rivers in Luzon can be found in Baliuag. It is named as Angat River and is the natural boundary line of Baliuag and Bustos. Rio Grande de Pampanga (Pampanga River) is on the northern most part of the town that divides the provinces of Pampanga and Bulacan.
Climate
The town has two (2) pronounced seasons the wet and dry. The wet season begins in April and ends in December. The rest of the year is dry with occasional rains around the area. The average temperature is from 21 degree C to 33 degree C from 21 degree to 25 degree C. Typhoons, tropical rains and storms also affect the town.Soil
Baliuag is mainly of Bigaa clay loam of soil. This type of soil has sticky subsoil and basically granular surface mainly of clay type. High quality of gravel and sand are found in the beds of Angat River. This is suitably used for the construction of buildings, roads and the manufacture of concrete products.
